The Nairobi surgical skills center held a basic surgical skills training for medical officers of health on 19th and 20th of April, 2016. The trainees were from various diverse counties including Nyeri, Murang’a, Thika, Kiambu and Machakos. The trainers were Dr. Wyckliffe Kaisha Otsianyi a senior lecturer and surgeon from University of Nairobi, dept of Anatomy and Dr. Nderitu of Kenyatta University and a cardiothoracic surgeon. Among the topics covered were knot tying, suturing, intestinal anastomosis, tendon repair, hemostasis and electro- surgery. The trainees were appreciative of the systematic nature of the training and the mentorship provided.

The training was generously sponsored by NSSC and Johnson and Johnson Company. During the training, officials of the company from UK, Dubai and Kenya visited the workshop and appreciated the efforts of the institution, the trainees and trainers.
