The Hernia Society of Kenya (HSK) held a CME and Training Workshop on Laparoscopic Abdominal wall hernia repair at Moi Teaching n referral Hospital (MTRH)- Eldoret 25-26th May 2017 respectively.  The HSK  training Faculty was lead by the Society's Founding and current Chairman, Dr Bernard M. Ndungu who is a Senior Lecturer at re Dept of Human Anatomy, UoN. The other members of the Faculty were eminent Senior Laparoscopic  Surgeons namely  Drs S.C. Patel(Patron: AKUH), M.K.  Tharao(Secretary: KNH), M.R.  Khan ( KNH/ Nairobi Hospital) and S.  Acharya ( MP Shah). A lively n educative discussion which lasted over 2 hours ensued between the attentive 60 plus

Local Surgeons / residents and the Faculty after Lectures on Surgical Anatomy of Abdominal wall in relation to hernia repair and Current Status of Hernia repair were delivered by  Ndungu, Tharao and S.C.  Patel respectively. All attendants got Board Certified CPD points vouchers .

The live - Surgery workshop was conducted by the Faculty at the MTRH theatres where 3 ventral hernias  and  6 inguinal hernias were successfully repaired Laparoscopically. All patients were found stable 12 - 16 hours later and were left to be discharged by the local Surgeons. This was the second HSK Laparoscopic hernia repair  live- Surgery workshop in a period of six months in its endeavour to have local Surgeons proficient in all available surgical technical advances in the treatment of  Hernias.
