Prof. Obimbo awarded prestigious Calestous Juma Science Leadership Fellowship

Prof. Moses Obimbo Madadi has been awarded a Calestous Juma Science Leadership Fellowship from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Prof. Obimbo, who is the Chair of the Department of Human Anatomy and Medical Physiology will form a coalition of researchers and develop tools to study the vaginal microbiome and metabolites during pregnancy to help identify predictive biomarkers and intervention strategies for improving pregnancy outcomes in Kenya.

This five-year fellowship, which is part of the Gates Foundation’s Grand Challenges in Global Health, seeks to support African scientific leaders doing transformational research and a collaborative community of practice around this partnership.
