PROF. S. KIAMA HOSTED COMMISSIONING OF DIGITAL UPGRADE EQUIPMENT DONATED BY PROXIMIE TO NAIROBI SURGICAL SKILLS CENTRE ON 14TH MARCH, 2024

The Nairobi surgical skills centre (NSSC), the department of Human Anatomy and Physiology, University of Nairobi commissioned the recently installed Digital  Upgrade equipment  on 14th March,2024 at 9.30 AM. The VC University of Nairobi Prof. S. Kiama Hosted the Event which was also attended by His Excellency Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr.

The digital Upgrade grant was donated by Proximie’s Amazon Web services Health Equity Award within the Innovate+ Kenya, Global Programme.  The provided Hardware, License and change management/IT assistance have an In-kind value of $50,000 USD.

Through the establishment of reasonably well-equipped dry and wet facilities, the University of Nairobi and its partners have invested in the NSSC to develop surgical skills. The implementations and setup of this technology would significantly enhance the caliber of University of Nairobi training and enable NSSC to easily collaborate remotely on regularly planned training sessions with other top-tier centre of excellence. The equipment further enables content preservation for convenient reference.

Since its founding in November 2012, the NSSC has provided a range of training programmes. Every year, NSSC provides training to 400 healthcare professional (HCPs) and is still a premier surgical skills transfer hub for the neighboring region.
